Almost there!

New SOFiSTiK Grasshopper Components for Axis Based Modelling

Since more than a year, SOFiSTiK offers free Components to simplify the process of parametric model creation in Grasshopper. If you haven’t downloaded them, you can find them on Github.

If you hear the first time about the Grasshopper components; read more about it in the SOFiSTiK McNeel Rhinoceros Grasshopper Integration post.

Since the day the components were released on Github, SOFiSTiK received plenty of positive and constructive feedback, which leads to the decision to invest in new components. To make the parametric modelling process in Grasshopper more straightforward and the connectivity to SOFiSTiK FEA even better.

The new components support the axis based modelling workflow. If you are familiar with SOFiSTiK, you might know the parametric modelling concept CABD (Computer-Aided Bridge Design) in SOFiPLUS.

Watch the Basics of Modelling a Parametric beam Bridge Video if you want to learn more about this input option.

Besides the axis-based modelling, also cross-section related definitions are available.
And there is news for new Grasshopper user; Lots of the required steps to create the parametric model are now integrated into the components. This reduces the effort to build the model tremendously.

The new Toolbar looks like shown bellow.

SOFiSTiK will develop and support the new components in the SOFiSTiK McNeel Rhinoceros Interface from now on. The free components will remain as open and free components on Github.

The new components are available in the latest service pack 2020-03 of the SOFiSTiK Rhino Interface.

To learn more about the SOFiSTiK Grasshopper Components read the Grasshopper Online Documentation.
